Kids, teenagers and adults experiencing vision loss will step up to the plate for Outlook Enrichment’s annual Beep Baseball event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Off the Wall Soccer, located at 6950 S. 110th Street in La Vista, Neb.
Anyone who is visually impaired can enjoy America’s favorite pastime with their family through the use of beeping baseballs and beeping bases. Alongside players from the Iowa Reapers Beep Baseball team, participants will field grounders, run bases, bat from a tee and receive live pitches. Participants who are sighted will wear sleep shades to even the playing field. Players will then put their skills to use during a game and will be cheered on by Omaha Storm Chasers’ mascot, Stormy, and the Omaha Steaks’ mascot, Sizzle. (Outlook Enrichment, a valued client of Lukas Partners, will be recognized as the Nonprofit of the Day at the Omaha Storm Chasers game on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 2 p.m.)
Beep Baseball is one of the many unique recreation opportunities that Outlook Enrichment provides to individuals with vision impairment. The onset of vision loss, especially in adulthood, frequently results in heightened isolation for those experiencing it. Recreation events foster lasting connections and a shared journey toward overcoming obstacles.
