Kristen Whitman brings excellent communication strategy skills, effective writing, and news media and digital expertise to each client opportunity. Working in television news for nine years, Kristen honed her skills in building news strategies, analyzing media research, writing, storytelling, video editing, budget planning, special event coverage and social media growth.
Kristen began her career as an assignment editor and producer at an Omaha television station. She quickly became a leader in the newsroom and was tasked with rebuilding a news department from the ground up when she was promoted to news manager. As a department head, she was part of an executive team that facilitated news coverage, created partnerships in the community and promoted events for community partners.
Kristen brings her television news experience to Lukas Partners clients by connecting them to their audience and customers in the best way possible. She knows what goes into making a story memorable and how social and digital media are playing a greater role in how companies engage with their target audiences. Kristen also has experience with event management, crisis communication, blogging and influencer relationships.
Kristen earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Dakota. While attending college, she produced and wrote for the school’s student-produced newscast, Coyote News. Kristen’s achievements include: a 2013 Nebraska Broadcasters Association 3rd place Award for Best Newscast; 2007 South Dakota Addy Award for Best Television Commercial; 2004 State of Iowa Scholar; and 2004 Excellence in Journalism Award from the Omaha World-Herald.
Kristen excels at multi-tasking, which is reflected in the results of her recent Clifton Strengths Assessment. Her strengths include: Analytical, Focus, Achiever, Arranger and Deliberative.
