Outlook Enrichment and Outlook Nebraska form Omaha-based Outlook Collaborative, the largest employer of the blind and visually impaired in Nebraska. This nonprofit has been providing rewarding and sustainable jobs to blind and low vision community members for the past 25 years. Through an array of programs, including adaptive technology training, independent living education, and inclusive group outings, Outlook Enrichment empowers individuals on their journey without sight by helping them achieve more than they ever imagined.

The Challenge

Outlook Enrichment wants to be the first place people turn to when seeking resources and support for the blind and low vision community in Omaha. When the organization came to Lukas Partners, there was a lack of brand awareness in the region. We needed to strategize how to help Outlook Enrichment establish themselves as the go-to authority for the blind community in Nebraska and the surrounding states.

The Big Idea

It would take ongoing support to raise awareness of Outlook’s crucial services in the community. That’s why we focused on building a long-lasting relationship that took care of all things media and public relations for them. Over our 18-year partnership, Lukas Partners has become Outlook’s trusted plug-in PR department.

Our Approach

In addition to entering Outlook Nebraska in a state-wide contest, we continuously promote the organization’s adaptive recreational programs and services to resonate with potential donors, volunteers, media outlets, and individuals that need our client’s services.

Event Promotion

We distributed news releases and media alerts to garner earned media coverage for adaptive recreational events like tandem bike riding, sailing, and golfing. We also shared information about Outlook Enrichment tools and resources through community calendars, newsletters, and social media event groups. These efforts were timed with monthly awareness opportunities, such as February’s Low Vision Awareness Month and August’s Child Eye Health and Safety Month.

We developed strategic messaging and aligned interview opportunities with key events throughout the year. Through news media feature stories and opinion editorials, we shared the personal experiences of spokespeople with vision loss to resonate with the public, as well as those in need of Outlook Enrichment’s support and services.
