Lukas Partners Shines Bright at PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards

Thank you to PRSA Nebraska for another great Paper Anvil Awards Gala. We are proud to win multiple awards again this year for our 2018 work supporting several of our clients, including AIM Institute, FNTS, Gordmans, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, Metro Credit Union, Nelson Mandela School, Nonprofit Association of the Midlands, Outlook Nebraska, Scooter’s Coffee and Wounded Warriors Family Support.

A special moment in the night came when Lukas Partners’ president and owner Joan Lukas was recognized as PRSA Nebraska Professional of the Year in recognition of her outstanding career accomplishments and service to the public relations profession. This annual award is presented to the one professional whose accomplishments represent the best in public relations in the state of Nebraska.

Joan is a widely-recognized leader with more than 35 years of diverse, senior-level public and media relations, crisis communication and reputation management, fund development and marketing communications experience serving a wide range of entities from small companies to Fortune 500 corporations, higher education, government and nonprofit organizations.

Since 2005, Joan has served as President and co-owner of Lukas Partners bringing passion and energy to each client challenge and opportunity all while staying on the leading edge of communication techniques and methodologies.

Joan is Vice President of Lukas Partners. After she earned a B.A. degree in journalism from Creighton University and a master's degree in communications from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, she spent 15 years at Conagra Foods in corporate communication management while helping to support Conagra Foundation initiatives. She handled corporate communications and donations for Oriental Trading Company. At Creighton University, she led news media relations and supported advancement initiatives.

For more than 20 years, she has grown Lukas Partners PR agency into a Midwest leader, securing results for clients in reputation management, brand awareness, audience engagement, capital campaign fundraising and other PR initiatives.

Joan received the Alumni Achievement Award from the UNO School of Communication in 2005 and the Professional of the Year distinction from the Public Relations Society of America’s Nebraska chapter in 2018.

She served in leadership positions on several boards for nonprofit organizations, and she is a graduate of Leadership Omaha and of the Conference Board’s Executive Sessions on fundraising and corporate philanthropy.
